Privacy Policy

FAQio ("FAQio," "we," "us," or "our") provides an AI-powered FAQ generation and management app (the "App") for merchants using the Shopify platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, when you install and use the App on your Shopify store.

By installing or using FAQio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

When you install FAQio, we receive and store the following categories of information through Shopify's Admin API:

We do not collect information from your customers or store visitors. FAQio only accesses store-level content needed to generate and display FAQs.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate AI-written FAQ content based on the product, collection, or page text you provide.
  • To save, edit, and display the FAQs you create within your store's theme.
  • To sync FAQ content to Shopify metafields so it can be rendered on your storefront.
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the App's features and reliability.
  • To enforce plan limits and manage your subscription.
  • To communicate with you about your account, support requests, or changes to the App.

3. AI Processing & Third-Party Services

When you use the AI generation feature, the text you submit (such as a product description or custom context) is sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to generate FAQ content. Anthropic processes this text solely to return generated output to FAQio and does not use it to train their models under their commercial API terms. We do not send customer personal data to Anthropic — only the store content you choose to submit for FAQ generation.

We also rely on the following service providers to operate the App:

  • Shopify — platform hosting, authentication, and Admin API access.
  • Anthropic — AI text generation for FAQ content.
  • Railway — application hosting and database infrastructure.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your store data and FAQ content are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway infrastructure, secured with encrypted connections (TLS/SSL) between the App, Shopify, and our database. Access to production data is restricted to the personnel who need it to operate and support the App.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your store data and FAQ content for as long as the App is installed on your store. If you uninstall FAQio, we delete your store's data from our active systems within 30 days, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

You may request earlier deletion of your data, or a copy of the data we hold about your store, at any time by contacting us at the email below.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws (such as the GDPR or CCPA) including the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Cookies & Tracking

FAQio is an embedded Shopify app and uses only the session cookies required by Shopify's App Bridge to authenticate your session within the Shopify Admin. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

FAQio is intended for use by Shopify merchants and is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
